FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
I believe it is important that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is comfortable and open. The decision to come to counselling may not be an easy one so during our first session we can find out if it feels right for us to work together and I will try to answer any questions. Meanwhile here are some FAQ's that may be helpful:
How long are the sessions?
Each session lasts 50 mins.
How long do I need to come?
Once we decide to work together, it is ideal if initially we meet for 6 weeks and then we can review to decide if there is more work to do. There are times when more or less weeks are needed.
Is counselling confidential?
This will be fully explained to you during our first session however, briefly it is as follows:
Confidentiality is held between the counsellor and the client. Information will not be given to anyone except with your express permission except in the following circumstances:
The prevention of Terrorism Act.
The Children’s Act.
If I were to be summoned by the Court.
If you were dealing drugs on the premises.
If I believed you to be at risk of causing harm to yourself or others.
In these cases I would endeavour to talk this through with you beforehand.
How much will it cost?
Each session costs £50 and is either payable at each session or via BACS prior to session.
What if I have to cancel?
It would be appreciated if you could let me know if you need to cancel your session 24 hours in advance otherwise the session will be charged at the full rate.
What if I don’t like it?
The decision to continue with counselling at any point is always that of the client however if there is anything that you are unhappy with it would be really helpful if we could discuss this together.
